Dreamer Wanted is my manifesto to create Art and make some noise. It’s what the common man would call a job description, but I call it my dream. It’s why I do my best work alone, by myself; to share with you. It revokes what we gave up to seek employment and gives us the freedom to find our calling and live our dreams!
Each one of us is born with the innate ability to dream and make a difference in the world.  It isn’t until we reach a certain age and others begin to tell us a different story; we begin to believe otherwise. This is why I am writing this blog. Because you no longer have to live someone else’s dream.
The other day my wife was discussing with a friend, my recent award on Bloggers.com as one of the Editor Picks of the Day. I’ve written 128 posts of The Rust Belt Chronicles (my blog) on Bloggers.com since June of 2012. Millions of bloggers post on the site, so the recognition is an honor to me and her. The other persons reply was: “Yea, well blogging doesn’t make money.”
In and of itself blogging may not make money right now, but the point is to network and build a tribe of followers. Subsequently, launch a business or movement and the website is this author’s platform. I don’t feel it is my responsibility to educate someone on social media who has no interest and follows the mindset of “yesteryear.” I’d rather focus on helping someone who wants to know and cares.
The other day, I ran across a blog by Terry Hadaway. He definitely gets it. Terry’s writing is top-notch with clarity and eloquence. Who knows maybe Terry and I will end-up on the same stage someday, write a book together or just become friends. Either way, it’s exciting to find someone who understands the pitfalls of the Industrial Age and the trapping of the minds involved.
So tune-out or remove yourself from those attempting to sabotage your dreams. Here’s a secret of being successful: When you are just about to turn the corner and reach a new plateau, the naysayers will jump out of nowhere to bash your work and distinguish your flame- if you allow it.
Every good battle has a moment of uncertainty, the brief question of resolve. It’s the nanosecond that attempts to separate your passion and cause; just keep your eye on the purpose and charge full-steam ahead!

That’s the battle we face every day to live our dreams!

Whatever Happened to Transparency?

Organizations, businesses and politicians often communicate appearing to care or give you the inside scoop. The problem develops when those words serve to explain little, prompting confusion or mistrust.

There’s a fine line between passing information and communicating in a vacuum.

When addressing the masses don’t presume we are dumb enough to believe “warm fuzzy words” without substance or action.

Anger, frustration, blame and mistrust increases due to spin, half-truths or rhetoric. Eventually customers, employees and voters find it easier to discount anything written or spoken as truth.

Unions, Tea Parties, Occupy Wall Street, and other groups of people have been formed as a result of mistrust. Acts of Civil War have their roots inspired by this powerful cowardly deed.

When a lack of transparency becomes the focal point, secrecy only serves to breath disconnect of epic proportions to your audience.

It’s far better to be transparent, honest and live up to your written or spoken intentions.

Anything less, is hardly worth our time.

How do you feel about this issue? Do you give people, organizations and politicians the benefit of the doubt? Where do you draw the line? Who exemplifies transparency? I’d love to hear your comments.

Until We Meet Again,

What is your Company Culture?

Do you work for a company that operates out of fear? Do you report to work wondering if you will be laid off today? Does the mindset appear to be:  keep your head down… don’t look up… don’t ask any questions or else…work harder? Start a few timely rumors and keep the workers in a flux. This is the ultimate corporate recipe for disaster.

Some companies keep their work force in fear for their jobs. They believe if they control their workers emotions the business will benefit from increased job performance. Too often, Management equates fear with power. Nothing could be further from the truth.

Businesses that choose to operate in this manner eventually burn people out and they seek employment elsewhere. This old fashion industrial-age method increases costs to the employer through constantly hiring and retraining replacement workers. Morale bottoms out and affects everyone, including your customers. Once customer service is affected your company is in the tank.
Fear is never a good motivator for any organization. People loose respect for an organization and lose sight of what truly matters. Anyone can walk into a business and within a few minutes of observing employee attitudes determine if a healthy work environment exists.

Fear erodes your business reputation from the inside-out!
Great businesses stand out immediately and the vibe is exciting, which extends to the customers.

The fact is… if your business operates using fear as the motivational tool; the problems are far more serious and deeper than how your employees are treated!

What is your company culture?

Show us you are- Who you say you are!

Companies create slogans.

They strive to market it to death.

It’s another chant, a way to get noticed and be heard.

But what is the actual internal message?

I thought so.
The advertizing dollars spent to market the “image” is really a mirage.

In the scale of creating an image, you’ve failed by “attempting to have it your way.”
The spin is only cleanup for damage control central.

Show us you are- who you say you are.
Anything less, doesn’t matter!
